Cluebound ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
Cluebound is designed to work with minimal data collection. We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the app.
The following is stored locally on your device only:
- Game progress (cases solved, XP, rank, streaks, achievements)
- App preferences (language, notifications, sound settings)
- Anonymous gameplay analytics (session length, questions asked, solve rate) — used only for improving the app and never transmitted to external servers
In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Cluebound offers optional subscriptions and consumable purchases through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information. Purchase history and subscription status are managed by Apple's StoreKit framework and verified through Apple's servers.
To manage or cancel your subscription, visit Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
Artificial Intelligence & Suspect Interrogation
Cluebound's suspect interrogation feature is powered by AI. The app uses two AI systems:
- Apple Foundation Models — On-device AI that processes your questions locally. No data leaves your device when this is in use.
- Anthropic Claude API — A cloud-based AI used as a fallback when on-device AI is unavailable. When this fallback is active, the text of your interrogation questions and the suspect's responses are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate a response. Anthropic's privacy policy governs this data: anthropic.com/privacy.
We do not use interrogation conversations for any purpose other than generating the suspect's response in real time.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, we use Apple's push notification infrastructure to send daily mystery reminders and streak alerts. Notification preferences are fully under your control in the app's Settings screen and in your device's notification settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not use any third-party advertising SDKs. The only external service that may receive data is Anthropic (for AI responses, as described above).
Children's Privacy
Cluebound is rated 12+ on the App Store due to crime and mystery themes. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your Rights
Because Cluebound stores your data locally on your device, you can delete all app data at any time by removing the app from your device. We do not maintain any server-side records tied to your identity.
